Melissa Harris Piano Studio, Cape Cod
Welcome.
If your dream is to play piano, I can help you.
MHPS of Cape Cod offers a kind, supportive environment for both absolute beginners and returning pianists. Retirement, in particular, can be a great time to begin lessons, affording time for practice that might prove difficult for those managing careers and families. Whether you're interested in traditional "classical" study, jazz/blues or popular music -- whatever your music tastes-- I encourage you to begin your journey.

A LONG HELD DREAM FLOURISHES AT THE PIANO
Both Kathy Gruel and Karen O’Conner always wanted to play the piano, but it took them a long time to find their way to the piano bench. They each had their own fears and insecurities that kept them from trying. And so, for many years, their dream of playing the piano was buried beneath everyday life. But now that they have finally started, they never want to stop.

AM I TOO OLD TO LEARN?
Not only are you capable of learning, numerous medical studies have proven significant health benefits for adults who learn music.  Our students range in age from 19 to 89!
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR ADULT LEARNERS?
Adults are oftentimes overly self-critical, though they are rarely so critical of others.  Music lessons offer a great opportunity for students to begin to recognize this tendency -- and learn to let go of it.
HOW MUCH WILL I NEED TO PRACTICE?
We'll choose music that appeals to you so practicing will be enjoyable. There won't be a focus on time commitment. Rather, we will set weekly goals and realistic means for achieving them.
